I'm not sure if I'm the right person to write a critique since i don't really do a whole lot of photography, but here it goes;

I'd say that the artist definitely had good vision and technique. The Angle of the camera, and the lens used captures an interesting perspective of the city. While the middle of the piece is covered mostly in shadow, it forces the eye to circle the outside of the piece where you can see all the goings on of the different stands and signs in the alley way, and also the lack of people as may be referenced in titling the piece "Old District"

You can also notice the more pristine building in the upper left corner creating contrast to the other buildings surrounding and including the center building being more dirty or dingy. The Pristine looking building also has more blues and greens in contrast to the rest of the image being more reds and yellow creating a warmer feeling, and leaving the Pristine building feeling more sef apart, and a little futuristic.

The piece also makes you wonder what is going on in the streets below, though the angle leaves the goings on to a mystery adding to the impact created by the colours the interesting angle and the way the piece guides your eye around itself.

As for originality, I would say this piece did a fairly good job at being original as i haven't seen a piece that is like or really comparative to this particular one.
