Something tells me he might not wanted his photo taken. Not sure what it is.

since you thought that he " might not wanted his photo taken" , isn't it inappropriate to upload it to social media ?

Yeah, maybe you're right. I had a dilemma posting this one. I think it's harmless to post it but should I delete it?

Actually, I personally don't understand those who dislike their photos to be taken.
I also don't know..

Neither do I! :D Anyway, I try to not do anything that might hurt the person, but I don't want to hide my photos under a rock either. :D My goal is to share the beauty of the world and it's inhabitants with others. :D

Yeah, I'm torn about this one. I feel I should delete it. The thing is that I was photographing the restaurant you can see in the background. It was from a good distance away so you couldn't clearly see anyone in the photo. But this man got out of the shop and right in my face. I didn't feel I was being too forward in this case so when got really close I felt free to take his photo, which is quite expressive. Anyway, I might just delete this one. What do you think?

Hmmm... this reminds me of what I was told before I visited Japan. That some shop owners would cross their wrists and say "No gaijin." But I was also told they fisted their hands when doing this and that it was more common in red light districts.

I've seen both styles. The hands don't really change the meaning much. It's all about the cross arms. :D

This is not my beautiful ramen shop.

"Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

And the days go by
Water flowing underground..."

Now you need to watch the video, it will make more sense. I hope.

In the video he makes a gesture that is similar to your attacker's.

I remember this gesture so well, I've seen it a lot of times when I went to Japan :)

It is so funny how even non spoken language can differ so much from one culture to another :)

Yeah, there are lots of gestures that have totally different meanings here, as well as in other countries. It is pretty cool. :D
