I was hanging out on Ginza on this bright sunny day when I came across this monk. He's pretty much always there on Sundays. I have some photos of him, but on this day I really liked the light and the backdrop (that store display changes very often). So I took a lot of photos until I got this one and had my fill.
I decided that I should give some alms to the monk in exchange for the photos. After putting the change in his bowl, I began to turn away, but he stopped me and said a blessing. After that he told me to wait, reached in to the little box on the ledge behind him, and then gave me a little blue charm with the kanji 心. He explained it the kanji is for 'heart' and the charm is blue, so it means "may you always have blue skies in your heart."
Let's just say it made my life a bit better.
